Let’s Go Local: Monuriki Island Is Worth Another Visit: Renny

Renny Anand is Kokomo Private Island Fiji’s office manager for aviation.

She was previously with Fiji Airports for 13 years.

Ms Anand said aviation and human resources was such a fulfilling combination as one got to work with a team of specialised intellectuals.

“Although it can be challenging, it is also fun,” she said.

“Everyday I am learning something new and exciting, and it’s worth getting up in the morning and going to work.”

Because of her line of work, she has been able to visit 10 international destinations.

“I have visited Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia,” she said.

“I am still hoping to travel more when we get back to normal.”

She said her husband and four-year-old son travel a lot locally.

“I think I inherited my adventurous gene from my dad,” Ms Anand said.

“My husband, son and I do a lot of travelling locally.

“We hope things get better, so we can explore more of Fiji.”

What Is One Place You Would Take Every Visitor To In Fiji, And Why?
Fiji has millions of great places, so picking one kind seems unfair.

If I really must choose, I would say the Nabalasere Waterfalls in Ra.

When I first saw the place, I was in awe of its exotic beauty.

So pure, so refreshing.

The hike to the waterfalls was bone-breaking.

But when you jump into the cool waters, it is amazing and breathtaking.

The same I felt when I went Navua white water rafting, and Yasawa Sawa-i-Lau caves.

You just get transported to a spectacular location.

What Is Your Secret Backyard Favourite Spot?
I am fortunate to be a resident of Sabeto, Nadi, which is known for its amazing mountain views and beautiful rivers.

So, a picnic spread next to a river, or sitting at a mountain top during sunset makes me happy.

Where Is One Place In Fiji you could visit again?
Monuriki Island in the Mamanucas.

It is the finest example of Fiji’s rich beauty.

If there was even a chance to go back, I would do it 10 times over.

Truly in love with that place.

What is your favourite place in Fiji for a pie/coffee?
I would say all Jack’s of Fiji restaurants – c – all offer a fun hangout vibe.

Nachos with chilled Beer – that’s the best combo.

What is one Fiji spot on the top of your bucket list?
It would be shark diving with Beqa Adventure divers.

I’ve ticked off sky diving.

Underwater diving is a must do.
