Andrew Malden has been in Fiji on and off from the United States since 2004 although in 2009 he decided to make it more permanent.
According to Mr Malden he started Glass Blowing in Fiji commercially in 2004. Even now he is the only one who does it in two parts with the gemstones and crystals.
“No one is blowing glass in Fiji, or at least not borosilicate, torch work like I do.
“As an artist I have been Glass working since 1996 and I just follow my passions doing what I love to do, regardless of the challenges.”
He added now he is more focused on working on his farm as his hobby is becoming expensive.

What Is One Place You Would Take Every Visitor To Fiji And Why?
I would say Colo-i-Suva would be one because it exemplifies Fiji lush rainforests and biodiversity. It is a great place for guests to have fun in the pools after a good hike.
A huge bonus is that it is affordable, and it is not far from Suva and Nausori.
What Is Your Secret Backyard Favourite Spot?
Thurston Gardens because it is a rich centre for biodiversity and has many amazing Fijian native trees and other nice, rare trees, and plants.
It is a nice walk through the gardens, and it’s right in the city, not to mention the Museum is on site with its rich heritage. It is a great place to learn a lot about Fiji.
What Is Your Favourite Place In Fiji For A Pie/Coffee?
You will laugh at this one because I am kind of different than most people, I think.
I do not like all these upper-class coffee shops way overpriced and cater to mostly upper-class sterile elites.
So, my favorite place is the Suva Market downtown where they have plenty of stalls and all kinds of local pies and cakes, coconut, pineapple, custard, purini, lolo buns, and plenty of other cheap options.
You may not be able to get the best coffee, but there are different teas you can get as well.
And you will still have some money left over to walk around the market and buy some healthy fruits and vegetables to eat. A great place to mix with the locals, hear some great stories and get the real side of Fiji.
