Upgrades
Resort staff have used last year’s COVID-19 related closure as an opportunity to progress major works and projects to improve guest experiences.
Works include repairs to the resort’s beachfront rock wall and the filling in of eroded sections of the beach.
Bures have been re-thatched and all building exteriors repainted.
A newly refurbished pool bar, updated playground equipment and an outdoor cinema area at the kids’ club are just some of the initiatives designed to help all guests enjoy enhanced experiences at the resort.
About The Resort
Club Wyndham Denarau Island is part of Club Wyndham South Pacific, the region’s leading timeshare club.
It is one of the most popular resorts with club members – however, with most members based in Australia and New Zealand, they have not been able to travel to Fiji since March last year.
There are however a few hundred Club Wyndham South Pacific members living locally in Fiji, and the resort is opening to these members as well as to guests who live locally for weekends in March and over the Easter long weekend.
General manager Kaydee George said during this challenging time, resort staff have taken the opportunity to make significant improvements.
“Before the COVID-19 border closures, Club Wyndham Denarau Island was achieving above 93 per cent occupancy all year-round, so renovations or initiatives of this scope would have been too intrusive to undertake with the resort still open, or they would have severely hampered the holiday experience,” she said.
“The team is proud of the work we have done and the new initiatives we have rolled out while the resort has been closed, and we look forward to welcoming back Fiji-based Club Wyndham South Pacific members and guests of our members next month.”

The team has completed the following major projects:
– Repairing the beachfront rock wall and replenishing the beach sand
– Replacing beachfront gas lanterns and garden beds damaged by Cyclone Harold
– Re-thatching bures damaged by Cyclones Harold and Yasa
– Conducting rustproofing, patching and cleaning of water and fire tanks
– Painting the exterior of all buildings and repairing cracks and chips
– Replacing eroded balcony rails and oxidised metal beams
– Striping, sanding and varnishing staircases
– Refurbishing gym and pool restrooms
– Repairs to the hot pool
– Renovating the restaurant kitchen and swim-up pool bar
– Installation of new playground equipment and an outdoor cinema at the kids’ club
– Purchase of an inflatable movie screen for Sunday Dive-in Movie nights
– A guest garden for club owners to plant vegetables and herbs
– New equipment including kayaks and paddleboards for club members to enjoy on a complimentary basis.

Having recently received accreditation under the Fijian Government traveller safety programme, Care Fiji Commitment, Club Wyndham Denarau Island is ready to re-open.
This accreditation is endorsed by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
The resort will re-open on weekends in March for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night check-ins with most facilities operating, including the lagoon-style swimming pool, adults’ only pool, kids’ club, Senakai Spa and dining and beverage outlets, Mamacita’s and The Beach Shack.
Club Wyndham Denarau Island was ranked the best hotel or resort choice for families in the South Pacific, topping the family category in the most recent TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards, while ranking seventh best hotel or resort in the region overall.
The resort boasts a rating of 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor and is praised for its friendly staff, generous facilities, quality of food and beverage and range of onsite activities.
